When I am in a situation where many people need to have an encounter with Jesus, let’s face it, sometimes it can feel overwhelming. I can get focused on myself and other distractions if I do not guard my heart and realize Jesus is the source of any true and meaningful ministry.
When we are connected to the Lord, we don’t have to manufacture genuine and pure love for others. Our hearts are sensitive to the love of the Lord and the grace that God has so lavishly poured out on us. Furthermore, we then can use the gifts God has given us to really minister the powerful working of the Holy Spirit to others.
Paul is urging us to prioritize a personal relationship and encounter with the Lord before we consider doing anything else and to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice. That term living sacrifice means that when it comes to who we are and our personal lives before the Lord, nothing is off the table. Everything we are is being continually offered and available to use as God sees fit.
