Parent/Child Discussion
1. Talk about a time when you accomplished something big, but you knew it wasn’t you—it was God working through you.
2. Read Matthew 17:20 CEB together. What do you think this verse means? What does it tell us about faith?
3. Do you believe God can and will use you for great things? Why or why not?
4. What’s one area of your life where you have a hard time having faith in God? Why do you think that is?
5. What’s one thing you can do to start building your faith in God?
6. Pray and ask God to enlarge all of your family’s faith in Him.

Family Activity - Gideon’s Army
This activity helps illustrate the Bible story of when God eliminated most of Gideon’s army.
Activity Objective
Be the last person to properly do an action as commanded—but only if Simon says.
Instructions:
1. Choose someone to be Simon.
2. Everyone get where you can see Simon.
3. Simon will call out an action for everyone to do. Everyone must keep doing this action until Simon says the next action.
4. Everyone only do the action if Simon says, “Simon says …” If someone does an action for which Simon didn’t say, “Simon says …” then they are out!
5. When someone gets out, they will sit at the edge of the room and cheer for the rest of the students.
6. Keep Simon’s commands coming quickly to make the activity more fun.
7. Use the Simon Says Command Ideas List below for ideas or make up your own. Play as long as you want, choosing a new Simon each round. You can mix up which ones say “Simon says” to keep the element of surprise going.
